SPACE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FOR THE LUNAR ORBITAL PLATFORM GATEWAY
Official presentation of the results of the 2nd edition of the Course in SPACE DESIGN named SPACE4INSPIRACTION – created and led by the professors Annalisa Dominoni + Benedetto Quaquaro at the School of Design, Politecnico di Milano, Master of Science in Integrated Product Design – with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Thales Alenia Space. The projects were focussed on the exploration of space habitat scenarios with the aim to find new ideas and concepts for the cis-lunar orbital platform GATEWAY.
The collaboration between the Course SPACE4INSPIRACTION and Thales Alenia Space is not a spot project, but the beginning of an ongoing agreement about didactis and design research to ensure the development of innovative projects in which the contribution of design discipline is fundamental and strategic to generate “disruptive” ideas and visions for architecture and habitability in Space, with particular attention to the human factors and interactions between operator and tools.
